In the 2022 TATA IPL Final, Gujarat Titans (GT) emerged victorious against Rajasthan Royals (RR) with a 7 wicket win. Yuzvendra Chahal was the highest wicket-taker in the tournament while Jos Buttler was the most prolific run-scorer, accumulating 863 runs in 17 matches, including four centuries and four fifties. He was also awarded the Most Valued Player award. The four teams that qualified for playoffs were GT, Lucknow Super Giants, RR, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. GT, captained by Hardik Pandya, topped the IPL 2022 points table with 20 points and became the first team to qualify for the playoffs. Having played 14 matches, they had won 10 of them.

The IPL 2021 championship was won by the Chennai Super Kings, who emerged triumphant in the Final against Kolkata Knight Riders.
